The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has sought approval from the Punjab government for a Rs 2.123 billion project to construct an 11-kilometer dual carriageway linking the Chak Beli Khan interchange of the Rawalpindi Ring Road with the GT Road.According to senior officials, the proposed link road will significantly improve access to the Ring Road and facilitate smoother traffic movement for commuters. Authorities emphasized that the Ring Road can only deliver its full benefits if all critical link roads are properly developed.The 38.3-kilometer Rawalpindi Ring Road, featuring five interchanges, has achieved 76 percent completion. RDA has already secured approvals for Adiala Road and Girja Road, with construction expected to start soon. The Chak Beli Khan link proposal will now be forwarded to the Punjab Planning & Development Department for final approval.Officials say the project will help divert heavy traffic from city roads, ease congestion on GT Road, and improve connectivity to the motorway and New Islamabad International Airport.
