The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has finalized two major projects worth Rs 9 billion to upgrade Murree Road from Saddar to Faizabad, including new service lanes between Liaquat Bagh and Chandni Chowk.RDA Director General Kinza Murtaza said the Punjab government asked civic agencies to propose improvement plans for Rawalpindi, after which RDA prepared two schemes to rehabilitate the city’s busiest corridor.The first project—valued at Rs 8.1 billion—includes building dual service roads from Liaquat Bagh to Chandni Chowk and making the entire corridor signal-free from Marrir Chowk to Faizabad. Land acquisition surveys are already underway.The second project will spend Rs 953 million on re-carpeting Murree Road from Saddar Flashman’s to Faizabad, marking the first major rehabilitation since 2014.RDA has requested funding under Rawalpindi’s upcoming mega development package.
