Solar Panel Prices in Pakistan Drop Sharply

Solar system prices in Pakistan have fallen significantly, offering consumers a strong opportunity to install affordable renewable energy before summer. With lower winter electricity demand, the cost of solar panels has dropped sharply, easing the financial burden on households planning to shift to solar energy. Market data shows that prices of 5kW–15kW systems have decreased by up to Rs150,000. A 5kW system now costs Rs550,000, while the 7kW system is priced at Rs625,000—capable of powering two 1.5-ton inverter ACs, a fridge, fans, lights, and a washing machine. The 10kW and 15kW systems are now available at Rs900,000 and Rs1.3 million, respectively. The decline follows President Asif Ali Zardari’s temporary suspension of the 16% GST on solar consumers. Experts say falling prices and tax relief make this the best time for solar adoption.
