Govt Sets Target to Install 3,000 EV Charging Stations by 2030

Pakistan has announced an ambitious plan to install 3,000 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations nationwide between 2025 and 2030 to accelerate clean transportation. According to an official document shared with APP, 240 charging stations have been allocated for the current fiscal year. Private companies will set up the stations, while the Ministry of Industries and Production, NEECA, the Ministry of Energy, NEPRA, and DISCOs will coordinate implementation. The initiative is a core element of the Draft New Energy Vehicle Policy, designed to promote large-scale EV adoption across Pakistan. Since the issuance of EV Charging Infrastructure and Battery Swapping Regulations in October 2024, NEECA has issued 72 licenses for EV charging facilities, signaling strong momentum toward electric mobility.
