Work to Start Next Month on New Islamabad–M1 Link Road

Construction will begin next month on a new 5-kilometer link road connecting Islamabad to the M1 Motorway via Margalla Road. The Capital Development Authority (CDA) will construct 2.7 km of the corridor, while the National Highway Authority (NHA) will build the remaining 2.3 km under the PSDP, which has allocated Rs. 6 billion for the project, including land acquisition.
At a progress review meeting, CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa was briefed on the Margalla Avenue extension and the new H-16 Interchange design. Officials confirmed that feasibility studies and preliminary designs are complete, tendering will be finalized next week, and initial funds have already been released.The new link is expected to significantly ease travel for residents of Islamabad’s outer sectors and improve long-term mobility planning.
