Government Promises Cheaper Electricity for Citizens

Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar announced in the National Assembly that a significant reduction in electricity prices will soon be visible. During a session discussing the national energy policy and solarization initiative, he said that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has prioritized the solarization plan, with substantial funds already allocated and implementation underway. The minister clarified that the proposal to abolish net metering has been repeatedly rejected by the cabinet, reaffirming the government’s commitment to a people-friendly energy policy. He added that the electricity rate has dropped from Rs. 50 to Rs. 32–35 per unit, and citizens will soon see this reflected in their bills. Tarar assured that public concerns will be strongly represented before the cabinet.
