Pakistan and Romania have agreed to construct a Friendship Monument in Karachi to celebrate 61 years of diplomatic relations and expand cooperation in culture, education, and trade. The decision was made during a meeting between Romanian Ambassador Dr. Dan Stoenescu and Karachi Commissioner Syed Hasan Naqvi. The Pakistan Romania Business Council (PRBC) will manage the monument’s design, construction, and maintenance. Ambassador Stoenescu said the project symbolizes strong bilateral ties and people-to-people friendship. Romania will also reopen its Honorary Consulate in Karachi to represent Sindh province, boost trade, and strengthen business partnerships. Both sides discussed collaboration in urban governance, education, and sustainable development. A proposal was also presented to name a Karachi road “Constanta Avenue” and a Constanta street “Karachi Avenue.”
