Pakistan’s 300MW Balakot Hydropower Dam to Power 1.8 Million People

Balakot: Work is progressing rapidly on the 300MW Balakot Hydropower Project on the Kunhar River in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Built with Chinese cooperation, the project is expected to generate 1.144 billion units of clean electricity annually — enough to power around 1.8 million people. It will also create thousands of local jobs and reduce Pakistan’s dependence on imported energy. The project is a major addition to Pakistan’s renewable energy network.
