Karachi on alert as PMD forecasts storms

Karachi: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast a fresh spell of dust storms, strong winds, and rain across Karachi from June 16 to 20. Similar weather conditions are expected in Punjab, Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and parts of Balochistan. Authorities have warned that heavy rainfall may lead to urban flooding in low-lying areas, while strong winds could damage vulnerable infrastructure and utility networks. Mountainous regions may also face landslide risks and travel disruptions. Relevant departments have been placed on alert and citizens are advised to follow official weather advisories. Will this weather system test the resilience of urban infrastructure across Pakistan?
