Lahore: Ravi Urban Development Authority (RUDA) conducted a public hearing on the Mahmood Booti eco-friendly waste-to-energy project, with participation from various stakeholders. Officials stated that the project aims to transform the dumping site into a source of renewable energy and environmental improvement. The initiative is expected to generate 5 to 30 megawatts of electricity through solar and gas-based systems, while also promoting afforestation and carbon credit generation. Authorities highlighted that carbon credits could become a significant revenue stream in international markets. It was also proposed that the energy produced from the project will be supplied to local industries on a priority basis, supporting sustainable economic growth.
