Sindh: The provincial government has decided to implement a smart lockdown aimed at reducing fuel consumption as global oil prices continue to rise. Officials clarified that unlike previous COVID-era lockdowns, the initiative is not intended to restrict social interaction but to conserve petrol and manage energy resources. Under the proposed plan, educational institutions may shift to online classes, while work-from-home policies for both public and private sectors are also being considered. Authorities stated that the move has become necessary due to increasing pressure on fuel reserves amid global tensions, particularly in oil-producing regions. An official notification is expected within the next 24 to 48 hours, outlining sectors affected and implementation details.
