Lahore: The first governing body meeting of WASA Punjab, chaired by Housing Minister Bilal Yasin and Chairman Chaudhry Sher Ali, approved a major restructuring plan to organize the water and sanitation system across the province under a new model. Officials set a deadline of December 31 to make WASA operational in 38 districts and sub-WASAs in three districts. The meeting also decided to implement a uniform water tariff across Punjab and allocate one percent of WASA revenues to a central fund for financial stability. Modern technology solutions will be introduced to monitor water supply, sewerage and drainage systems. Committees have been formed to enhance governance, improve laws and strengthen institutional performance across all districts.
