Punjab makes PRA registration mandatory for food sector under tax reforms

Punjab: The Punjab government has moved towards implementing a comprehensive tax reform system, making Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) registration mandatory for businesses in the food sector seeking registration with the Punjab Food Authority. The decision was taken in a meeting chaired by PRA Chairman Azam Iqbal Supra, where officials also resolved to intensify action against unregistered service sector businesses. Authorities emphasized improving transparency and strengthening the legal framework to prevent tax evasion. Officials further directed that businesses involved in manipulation of sales records and repeated violations will face strict action, including sealing of premises. The initiative aims to enhance tax collection, ensure compliance and formalize the service sector across the province.
