Punjab considers Rs 2bn free electric ambulance service for deceased transport

Lahore: The Punjab government is considering a proposal to launch a free ambulance service for transporting deceased persons from hospitals to their homes or other cities. The plan includes the purchase of 150 electric ambulances at an estimated cost of Rs 2bn, with at least one ambulance allocated to every tehsil. Officials said the initiative aims to ease the financial burden on families who currently pay high charges for body transport services outside hospitals. A digital management system and dedicated helpline will also be introduced at major public hospitals to ensure quick access. Authorities described the proposal as a humanitarian initiative designed to provide dignity and relief to grieving families across Punjab.
