Canada-Backed SWISH Project Launched to Improve Health & WASH System in Punjab

Lahore : WaterAid, in collaboration with the Government of Canada and the Punjab Health & Population Department, has launched a seven-year project titled SWISH Health to strengthen the province’s healthcare system. The initiative aims to improve Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) services across health facilities in Punjab. Under the program, clean water supply, improved sanitation infrastructure, and hygiene awareness campaigns will be introduced in selected healthcare centers. The project also focuses on upgrading hygiene facilities for medical staff and patients to reduce infection risks. Officials stated that policy frameworks and health system mechanisms will be aligned with WASH standards to ensure sustainable improvements. Stakeholders termed the initiative a major step toward enhancing safe and quality healthcare services in Punjab.
