ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced significant relief measures to support Pakistan’s industrial and export sectors, including a reduction of Rs4.04 per unit in industrial electricity tariffs, lowering wheeling charges to Rs9, and cutting the Export Financing Scheme rate from 7.5% to 4.5%. Addressing leading businessmen and exporters, he stressed export-led growth, SME development, and long-term economic stability. Award-winning exporters were named “ambassadors at large” and granted blue passports to promote Pakistan internationally. While the industry welcomed the relief package, concerns persist over a possible 48 paisa per unit Fuel Charges Adjustment amid rising electricity consumption.
