Punjab Announces Free Public Transport in Lahore During Basant

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has announced free public transport facilities in Lahore during the Basant festival from February 6 to 8, 2026. Under the initiative, citizens will be able to travel free of cost through 500 buses, 6,000 rickshaws, and 60,000 cab rides across the city. The arrangement has been made under the supervision of the Punjab Transport and Mass Transit Department to facilitate safe and convenient movement of citizens during the three-day festival. Officials said the initiative aims to reduce traffic congestion, promote public transport usage, and ensure safer mobility during Basant celebrations in Lahore.
