LAHORE: Authorities have started a public building safety survey of rooftops in inner Lahore to ensure citizen safety ahead of Basant. Buildings identified as high-risk will be served warning notices, while teams from Walled City Public Safety and LESCO have been mobilized to implement preventive measures. Similar safety operations will also be carried out in slum areas. Commissioner Lahore confirmed that a central Basant Command and Control Center has been established at the DC Office, with Rescue 1122 completing mock exercises in densely populated localities. LWMC has launched a special cleanliness drive, while all departments will remain on round-the-clock duty during the three-day “Safe Basant” from February 6 to 8, 2026. Kite flying before February 6 remains strictly prohibited.
