KP Govt to Launch Free Solar Systems for 120,000 Households

The Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has announced a large-scale clean energy initiative to provide free or easy-installment solar systems to eligible households in the merged districts. Under the program, around 120,000 families will receive 2 kW solar systems, including inverters and essential equipment, to ensure reliable electricity access. The project, estimated to cost nearly PKR 13 billion, will be fully funded by the government. Each system is valued between PKR 255,000 and 300,000. The scheme will be implemented across Bajaur, Khyber, Kurram, Orakzai, Mohmand, and North and South Waziristan. Financial structuring will be handled by the Bank of Khyber, with technical support from PEDO.
