The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has announced plans to develop three major motorway projects to improve regional connectivity and economic activity. Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi reviewed progress on Swat Motorway Phase II, Peshawar–Dera Ismail Khan Motorway, and the Dir Motorway during a high-level meeting. Authorities were directed to begin construction of Swat Motorway Phase II, an 80-kilometre stretch from Chakdara Interchange to Fatehpur, featuring nine interchanges and seven bridges. The 365-kilometre Peshawar–Dera Ismail Khan Motorway, comprising 19 interchanges and two tunnels, will be developed under a public-private partnership model. Meanwhile, the Dir Motorway will be constructed using provincial resources to accelerate development in remote areas.
