Rawalpindi to Face 50% Water Supply Cut from Rawal Dam

Water supply to Rawalpindi from Rawal Dam will be reduced by up to 50 percent from January 1 to January 11, 2026, due to scheduled cleaning, desilting, and repair work on the canal system. The decision was taken in a joint meeting between the Small Dam Organisation and WASA Rawalpindi. Authorities will conduct maintenance on the main canal from January 1 to January 3, followed by work on the right and left bank canals until January 11. Several localities are expected to be affected, while supply from Khanpur Dam, tube wells, mini filtration plants, and water bowsers will continue. Residents have been advised to use water responsibly until normal supply resumes.
