Nepra Cuts Power Tariff for Industrial & Agricultural Consumers

Nepra has approved the federal government’s decision to reduce electricity tariffs for industrial and agricultural consumers, following Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s October 2025 announcement of a three-year subsidised power package. Under the revised structure, the rate for additional units in both sectors has been lowered to Rs. 22.98 per unit, down from Rs. 38 for agriculture and Rs. 34 for industry.
According to the Power Division, this reduction will significantly cut the overall cost of purchased electricity. Agricultural users consuming an extra 100 units will save nearly Rs. 7 per unit, while industries using 1,000 additional units will save almost Rs. 5 per unit.
Energy Minister Awais Leghari said the package will enhance business stability, support greenfield industries—including data centres and crypto mining—and boost economic activity. Residential and commercial consumers remain unaffected.
