Lahore Ranked Most Polluted City in Punjab as Air Quality Worsens

Air pollution continues to grip several cities across Punjab, with Lahore once again topping the list of the most polluted urban centres. According to global air quality monitoring websites, Lahore recorded a hazardous Air Quality Index (AQI) of 331, placing it among the world’s most polluted cities. Other cities in Punjab are also experiencing dangerous pollution levels, with Kasur reaching an AQI of 327, Narowal at 313, and Sheikhupura recording a particulate matter reading of 292.International rankings show Lahore as the 6th most polluted city globally, while Karachi stands at 14th. Meanwhile, dense fog has further complicated travel conditions, forcing authorities to close Motorway M-1 from Peshawar Toll Plaza to Burhan for safety.
