CM Maryam Nawaz Sets 3-Month Deadline for Major Police Reforms in Punjab

Lahore: Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has set a three-month deadline to implement comprehensive police reforms across Punjab. Key decisions include installing 14,000 body cameras and 700 panic buttons, launching an online FIR tracking system, and introducing digital complaint mechanisms. Investigation proceedings will now be audio and video recorded, while police officers have been directed to address citizens respectfully. The CM also ordered lane discipline enforcement, improved traffic monitoring apps, and faster complaint resolution within hours. Officials reported a 48% overall crime reduction and 80% decline in major crimes. The reforms aim to enhance transparency, accountability, and public trust in policing across the province.
