Ministry of Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives

The Ministry of Planning, Development and Special Initiatives is a premier federal government department in Pakistan, originally established in 1952 (with its roots tracing back to the Planning Commission) to develop national expertise and achieve self-reliance in macro-economic policy formulation comparable to international standards. It operates as the chief architect of national development blueprints, long-term economic strategies, and public sector prioritization. It is a multidisciplinary federal body providing strategic planning, macroeconomic policy, public investment management, development research, and special initiative execution across energy, infrastructure, water security, regional connectivity, and socio-economic sectors.
