About

Yasmeen Lari is Pakistan’s first woman architect and the co founder of Heritage Foundation of Pakistan, known globally for shifting from corporate modernism to humanitarian, climate focused “barefoot” architecture using low carbon local materials. She studied at the Oxford School of Architecture and later led large scale community rebuild work after disasters, promoting self build systems that empower local communities, especially women.

She is widely respected for proving that disaster relief housing can be dignified, culturally rooted, and genuinely sustainable instead of concrete heavy and donor dependent. International recognition includes the RIBA Royal Gold Medal 2023 and the Jane Drew Prize 2020, reflecting her impact on both climate justice and women’s leadership in architecture.
