Royal Trail Package 1

Walled City of Lahore

Royal Trail Package 1 is a heritage restoration project completed by the Walled City of Lahore Authority as part of the larger Royal Trail or Shahi Guzargah conservation initiative. The Royal Trail is the historic route from Delhi Gate toward Lahore Fort, once used by Mughal emperors, and it connects important monuments including Shahi Hammam, Wazir Khan Mosque, Sonehri Mosque and other heritage sites.

The Package 1 work covered the section from Delhi Gate to Chowk Purani Kotwali and included façade improvement, street rehabilitation, infrastructure upgrading, underground sewerage and electricity systems, and conservation-linked urban improvement. Reports state that around 850 properties and 57 streets were rehabilitated under this package, making it one of WCLA’s key completed heritage revitalization projects.

WCLA completed Royal Trail Package 1 with a focus on heritage conservation, tourism promotion and urban revival within the historic core of Lahore. The project improved the visual character, public infrastructure and cultural value of the area, while strengthening the Royal Trail as a major heritage tourism route in the Walled City.
