PWD Underpass & Korang Bridge Expansion

Capital Development Authority

The PWD Underpass and Korang Bridge Expansion is an important infrastructure project designed to improve traffic flow along the Islamabad Expressway and provide faster, safer travel for daily commuters. The project aims to reduce congestion at the PWD junction and enhance connectivity between Islamabad, Rawalpindi and surrounding housing societies. By upgrading two critical points on the expressway, the development supports smoother mobility for thousands of vehicles each day.

The project includes construction of a signal free underpass at the PWD intersection, expansion of the Korang Bridge, improved road geometry, upgraded drainage systems and installation of street lighting and traffic management features. The widened bridge accommodates more traffic lanes, allowing uninterrupted movement along the expressway. These improvements reduce bottlenecks, shorten travel times and provide safer access to nearby residential communities and commercial areas.

The PWD Underpass and Korang Bridge Expansion is being carried out with a focus on durable engineering, long term traffic needs and efficient urban connectivity. Once completed, the upgraded corridor will contribute significantly to easing congestion and improving daily commuting between the twin cities.
