Punjab Rural Sustainable Water Supply and Sanitation Project

Local Government & Community Development Department

The Punjab Rural Sustainable Water Supply and Sanitation Project is a major initiative designed to provide safe drinking water and improved sanitation services to rural communities across Punjab. The project aims to reduce waterborne diseases, improve public health and create a cleaner living environment by developing reliable water supply systems and modern sanitation facilities. It supports long term community wellbeing and strengthens basic rural infrastructure.

The development includes construction of water supply schemes, installation of purification and filtration units, laying of distribution pipelines, creation of household and community sanitation facilities and improvement of drainage systems. The project also introduces hygiene awareness programs, community-based management models and modern monitoring tools to ensure sustainable operation of the services. By engaging local residents, the initiative promotes responsible water use and long-term system maintenance.

Implemented with support from international development partners and the Government of Punjab, the project focuses on sustainability, environmental protection and inclusive service delivery. Once completed, it will provide safe water access and improved sanitation to thousands of rural households, significantly enhancing quality of life.
