Punjab Intermediate Cities Improvement Investment Program (PICIIP)

Local Government & Community Development Department

The Punjab Intermediate Cities Improvement Investment Program PICIIP is a major urban development initiative aimed at improving infrastructure, public services and municipal management in selected intermediate cities of Punjab. The program focuses on creating cleaner, safer and more efficient urban environments by upgrading roads, drainage networks, water supply systems and community facilities. It supports long term city planning and enhances the quality of life for residents in rapidly growing urban centers.

The development includes rehabilitation of key road corridors, improvement of water and sewerage systems, construction of public spaces, installation of modern street lighting, strengthening of waste management operations and capacity building of municipal institutions. Smart technologies, GIS based planning tools and community outreach programs are also part of the initiative to ensure efficient service delivery and active citizen engagement. The program aims to create model urban areas that demonstrate sustainable and inclusive development.

PICIIP is being implemented with support from international development partners and the Government of Punjab, with a strong focus on modern urban planning, environmental sustainability and improved governance. Once fully completed, the program will transform intermediate cities into well managed urban centers with upgraded infrastructure and better living conditions.
