The Nai Gaj Dam Project is a water storage and hydropower development located on the Gaj River in the gorge area at the edge of the Kirthar Range, approximately sixty five kilometers north west of Dadu city in Sindh Province. The project has been developed to support irrigation needs, improve water availability and contribute to small scale power generation in the surrounding region.
The dam is designed as a central core earth fill structure with a height of one hundred ninety four feet. It has a gross storage capacity of three hundred thousand acre feet and a live storage capacity of one hundred sixty thousand acre feet. The project is planned to irrigate a cultivable command area of twenty eight thousand eight hundred acres, supporting agricultural development and improved land productivity. In addition to irrigation benefits, the dam also includes power generation facilities with an installed capacity of four point two megawatts.
