The Golen Gol Hydropower Project is a renewable energy development located on the Golen Gol River, a major tributary of the Mastuj River in District Chitral, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The project was developed to harness hydropower potential in the mountainous region and contribute clean and reliable electricity to the national grid. It plays an important role in supporting energy needs through sustainable power generation.
The project includes a weir with a height of twelve meters and a head race tunnel with a total length of three point eight kilometers. It operates with a gross head of four hundred thirty-six meters and a design discharge of thirty cubic meters per second. The installed generation capacity of the project is one hundred eight megawatts, with an expected annual energy production of four hundred forty-two gigawatt hours.
