The Green Building Project is a landmark environmental infrastructure initiative being executed under the World Bank funded Punjab Green Development Program. The program is being implemented by the Environment Protection Department with the objective of strengthening environmental management and integrating sustainable growth practices across Punjab. As part of this initiative, a state-of-the-art green building is being developed to house the Environment Protection Department, Environmental Protection Agency, Environmental Monitoring Center and allied environmental bodies.
The project is being constructed by the Infrastructure Development Authority of the Punjab in Gulberg II, Lahore. The building is planned on a land area of 5 kanals with a total covered area of 99,415 sq ft. Designed to achieve LEED Gold certification, the building focuses on minimizing environmental impact during both construction and operational phases. The facility is intended to serve as a benchmark for future government building standards in Pakistan.
