Apni Chhat Apna Ghar Program is a large scale affordable housing initiative launched by the Government of Punjab on 21 August 2024 to support low income families in constructing their own homes through interest free housing finance. The program is being implemented through the Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency in collaboration with the Bank of Punjab and is focused on reducing housing insecurity for families living in rented houses or informal settlements across Punjab.
The program provides interest free housing loans for new house construction, floor additions, completion of grey structures, renovation and maintenance of residential units. Under the scheme, eligible applicants can receive financing of up to PKR 1.5 million with flexible repayment terms, government backed subsidies and no hidden charges. The initiative also includes loan waiver facilities in cases of death or permanent disability, early repayment rebates and support for community level housing improvement. Through large scale construction activity, the program is also contributing to employment generation, economic growth and planned residential development across Punjab.
