Punjab Sets Up Performance Management Unit to Monitor Government Departments

The Punjab government has established a Performance Management Unit (PMU) to closely monitor the performance, attendance, and service delivery of government departments across the province. Launched under the vision of Maryam Nawaz, the initiative introduces real-time monitoring through virtual tours, KPI dashboards, and data-driven oversight of hospitals, educational institutions, offices, and municipal services. The PMU will track issues such as encroachments, sanitation under the Suthra Punjab program, drainage and sewerage systems, stray dog control, price monitoring of essential commodities, and conditions of parks, graveyards, and roadside markets. Commissioners and deputy commissioners’ performance will also be evaluated through defined indicators. The government says the system aims to improve governance transparency, ensure accountability, and deliver measurable improvements in urban management across Punjab.
