Good News for Azad Kashmir: Electricity Tariffs Made Easier for All Users

The Government of Azad Kashmir has announced a major relief measure by removing strict conditions on electricity tariffs, easing the burden on consumers across the region. The decision follows an agreement with the Joint Public Action Committee and introduces simplified tariff structures for educational and commercial users.According to the Finance Minister, schools and colleges will be charged Rs. 15 per unit for consumption between 1 and 1,000 units, while usage above 1,000 units will be billed at Rs. 25 per unit.For commercial consumers using 5 to 160 kilowatts, the tariff has been set at Rs. 25 per unit for up to 1,500 units, and Rs. 35 per unit for consumption beyond that level.The Energy and Water Resources Department has issued an official notification to implement the revised tariffs.
