Two Major Roads Approved for Construction in Gilgit Region at Over Rs22 Billion

The government has approved the construction of two major road projects in the Gilgit region, with a combined value exceeding Rs22 billion. These new routes aim to transform connectivity across the mountainous northern areas by improving access to remote communities, boosting tourism, and supporting local trade. The upgraded roads are expected to enhance travel safety, reduce travel times, and create stronger links between key economic zones. Improved infrastructure will also facilitate the transport of agricultural goods, minerals, and handicrafts, contributing to regional income growth. Officials say the projects will open new opportunities for local residents and promote sustainable development in one of Pakistan’s most strategically important regions.
