The Punjab government has launched the “Apni Zameen, Apna Ghar Housing Scheme,” offering free 3-marla residential plots to eligible citizens through a digital balloting system. The program was officially inaugurated in Lahore, where PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif pressed the digital launch button at the request of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. In the first round of digital balloting, 2,000 deserving applicants from 19 districts received plot allotments across 23 housing schemes. Major allocations include 730 plots in Jhelum, 388 in Kasur, 257 in Faisalabad, 219 in Lodhran, and others across Punjab. CM Maryam Nawaz announced that plot winners will also receive construction loans of up to Rs. 1.5 million, repayable over nine years at just Rs. 14,000 monthly. Housing Minister Bilal Yasin said the process is fully transparent, with NADRA verification and strict district-level scrutiny.
