The number of net-metering consumers in Pakistan has reached 424,841, with thousands more rapidly joining the system nationwide, including Lahore. According to official sources, nearly 4.25 lakh households and businesses are now generating their own solar power and supplying surplus energy to the national grid. Meanwhile, distribution companies have received 18,874 new applications from consumers who are seeking approval to install net-metering systems. Authorities say the rapid adoption of solar energy reflects the growing demand for affordable electricity and the public’s shift toward renewable sources. The rise in net-metering users is also helping reduce pressure on the national grid and promoting clean energy generation across the country.
