Punjab launches Model Village Programme across 485 villages

Lahore: The Punjab government has launched the Model Village Programme, initiating development projects in 485 villages during its first phase. Officials stated that the initiative aims to improve rural infrastructure, benefiting around 4 million people. Authorities highlighted that the programme includes water supply, sewerage systems, street paving, parks and street lighting. Restoration of traditional ponds is also part of the project. The government has approved Rs 60 billion for the initial phase, with plans to expand the programme to an additional 7,500 villages. Experts believe that such large-scale rural development will enhance living standards, strengthen local economies and improve infrastructure across Punjab.
