ISLAMABAD: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has approved a 28-paisa per unit increase in electricity prices for February bills under the fuel price adjustment mechanism. The hike will apply nationwide, including K-Electric consumers, while lifeline users and electric vehicle charging stations remain exempt. NEPRA reduced the increase from the 48 paisa per unit initially requested by the Central Power Purchasing Agency after a detailed review. Officials said the decision balances rising fuel costs with consumer protection and is part of NEPRA’s monthly tariff adjustment process to ensure transparency and financial sustainability in the power sector.
