Lahore Metro Bus Stations to Shift to Solar Power

A major step has been taken toward shifting Lahore’s public transport infrastructure to renewable energy, as the bidding process for converting Metro Bus stations to solar power reaches an advanced stage. Under the supervision of the Traffic Engineering & Planning Agency, technical and financial bids for four out of five tender packages have been finalized, while evaluation of the remaining package is underway. Officials stated that once approvals are granted, implementation work will begin shortly. The project aims to significantly reduce electricity costs at Metro Bus stations while promoting environmentally friendly energy solutions. Authorities believe the initiative will improve operational efficiency and support sustainable urban transport in Lahore, aligning with broader goals of energy conservation and green infrastructure development.
