Provincial Land Use Plan Phase 2 is a strategic planning initiative being implemented by the Urban Policy Unit Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to guide sustainable land use and urban development across the province. The project builds upon the groundwork laid under Phase 1 and focuses on translating policy level land use frameworks into actionable planning tools for provincial and local governments. The initiative aims to address challenges related to unplanned urban expansion, inefficient land utilization, environmental degradation and climate resilience by promoting evidence based and integrated land use planning.
Phase 2 of the Provincial Land Use Plan emphasizes district and city level land use mapping, zoning regulations, and institutional capacity building. The project supports harmonization of land use policies with sectoral strategies related to housing, transport, industry, agriculture and environmental protection. Through technical assistance, spatial analysis and stakeholder engagement, the Urban Policy Unit is enabling local governments to adopt modern planning practices that improve service delivery, protect natural resources and guide future urban growth in a balanced manner.
