Saudi Arabia’s Cabinet has approved a high-speed electric rail project connecting Saudi Arabia and Qatar, marking a major step toward regional connectivity and economic integration. The decision was taken at a Cabinet meeting chaired by King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud in Riyadh. The 785-kilometer railway will link Riyadh and Doha, reducing travel time between the two cities to around two hours, with operations planned to begin in June 2026. Officials said the project will boost tourism, trade, and mobility while supporting Saudi Vision 2030 and Qatar National Vision 2030. The railway is expected to become a landmark infrastructure initiative for Gulf cooperation.
